Stolen car chase ends in arrest
Police arrested a man after tracking an allegedly stolen vehicle from Richmond to Mulgrave early this morning, Saturday the 18th of October.
It’s alleged the vehicle was first spotted driving erratically on Punt Road in Richmond at around 1.15am. However, when officers approached, the driver sped off onto the Monash Freeway, heading towards Mulgrave.
Stop sticks bring chase to an end
Officers quickly coordinated across multiple units as the pursuit continued along the freeway. Police successfully deployed stop sticks on Wellington Road, forcing the vehicle to a halt. The driver then attempted to flee on foot, but officers swiftly caught up and arrested him nearby on Jacksons Road around 2am.
Man charged with theft and driving offences
Police have charged a 28-year-old Noble Park man with theft of a motor vehicle and several driving offences. He was later bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court at a future date. Investigators allege the vehicle had been stolen from Heidelberg Heights on October 11th.
