Residents powerless after Collapse.
Emergency crews were called to Gateshead Drive in Wantirna South around 4:30pm this afternoon after a carport collapsed, bringing down power lines.
The tiled roof carport was an original structure, built in similar architecture to the main residence. The entire structure collapsed, taking the power lines with it.
Fortunately, the power cables were not sparking and did not pose a traffic hazard. A Fire Rescue Victoria crew attended and ensured the area was made safe. A crew members could be seen using a hotstick to manage the disrupted cables.
No Injuries and No Cars
Thankfully, no one was injured and there were no cars parked underneath the carport prior to the accident. Emergency Services have requested the council attended. The residents are tonight without power.
