Cuppa With A Cop Connects Knox Community

Community Meets Police Over Coffee

Residents across the City of Knox sat down with officers this April. Cuppa With A Cop ran from the 14th of April through to the 20th of April this month. The initiative aimed at strengthening local connections.

The informal event, held at Ferntree Gully Library, invited locals to speak directly with members of Victoria Police.

Importantly, the setting removed barriers. There were no desks, no appointments, and no pressure.

Open Conversations Reveal Real Concerns

Throughout the session, residents raised everyday concerns. These included traffic behaviour, local crime trends, and visible policing in key suburbs.

Police listened closely. Moreover, they offered practical advice and explained how resources are deployed across Knox.

As a result, many attendees left with clearer expectations about response times and patrol priorities.

Strong Turnout and Positive Feedback

Community response was steady across the session. While numbers remained manageable, engagement stayed consistently high.

Locals welcomed the chance to speak openly. In addition, several attendees said they felt more confident approaching police in the future.

One recurring theme stood out clearly — people valued being heard.

Building Trust Beyond Emergencies

Events like this aim to shift interactions away from crisis-only contact. Instead, they focus on everyday connection.

Police emphasised that early conversations can prevent issues from escalating. Likewise, they encouraged residents to report their concerns sooner rather than later.

Consequently, initiatives like “Cuppa With A Cop” will continue to play a role in strengthening community trust across Knox.

What Happens Next

Following the session, feedback will help shape future engagement efforts.

More events are expected across Knox in coming months. Therefore, residents will have further opportunities to connect directly with local officers.

For now, the message remains simple — a coffee and a conversation can go a long way.
