Double Fatality In Ferntree Gully After Pole Crash

Two people have died following a serious crash in Ferntree Gully on the evening of Saturday the 24th of January. Emergency services responded to Burwood Highway and Oaklands Avenue about 5.55pm after reports of a collision. A car had struck a roadside power pole at speed, plowing uncontrolled through a bus stop before coming to rest outside the Kia dealership. Two passengers died at the scene and await formal identification. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the male driver to hospital under police guard.

Police Launch Major Investigation

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have launched a full investigation into the crash. However, investigators have not yet established the cause of the collision. Specialists continue examining the scene, vehicle damage, and available evidence. Police diverted traffic and asked motorists to avoid the area while inquiries continue.
