Driver Caught Drink Driving with Minors

Dangerous Driving Draws Police Attention

At about 9:30pm on Friday the 17th of July, officers patrolling Dorset Road noticed a vehicle travelling without headlights.

Additionally, police observed the vehicle swerving within its lane before initiating a traffic stop.

Breath Test Returns High Reading

When officers arrived at the vehicle, the 47-year-old male driver returned a positive Preliminary Breath Test.

He later recorded an Evidentiary Breath Test reading of 0.153.

Consequently, police immediately suspended his driver’s licence for 12 months.

Vehicle Impounded and Court Action Pending

In addition, officers impounded the vehicle for 30 days at a cost of $1,016.

The driver will also be summonsed to appear before a magistrate.

Two Children Were Travelling in the Vehicle

Alarmingly, another adult and two children were travelling in the vehicle during the incident.

As a result, police said the interception likely prevented a far more serious outcome.

Police Deliver Clear Warning

Meanwhile, Highway Patrol officers continue targeting impaired drivers across the region.

Police reminded motorists that anyone who drinks or takes drugs before driving risks losing their licence, their vehicle and potentially much more.
