Charges Laid After Fatal Ferntree Gully Crash
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal crash in Ferntree Gully last week. The driver crashed into a power pole on Oaklands Avenue and Burwood Highway about 5.55pm on Saturday the 24th of January. The crash prompted a major emergency response and an intensive police investigation.
Two Teenagers Died at the Scene
Two male passengers died at the scene despite rapid emergency intervention. The victims were both aged 18 and were from Sandhurst and Blackburn respectively. Their deaths have deeply affected families, friends, and the wider community.
Driver Charged Following Hospital Treatment
The 19-year-old driver, a Ferntree Gully man, was taken to hospital under police guard. Following further investigation, he has been charged with multiple offences. The charges include two counts of culpable driving causing death.
