Police Raid Targets Replica Firearm Sales
Firstly, police have seized 23 imitation firearms during a targeted operation in Dandenong.
Officers attended a market near Clow Street and Cleeland Street about 2.40pm on Sunday, 26 April.
The operation formed part of a proactive investigation into suspected illegal sales.
Importantly, officers conducted foot patrols before identifying concerning items on display.
Two Market Stalls Allegedly Involved
During the patrols, officers located two stalls displaying imitation firearms for sale.
Consequently, police seized all items from both locations.
Officers recovered:
- Seven imitation AK47-style rifles
- Eight imitation Glock-style pistols
- Seven imitation Desert Eagle-style pistols
- One imitation pump-action shotgun
Therefore, police removed a total of 23 replica firearms from circulation.
Vendors to be Charged by Summons
At the scene, officers interviewed a 63-year-old woman from Rowville and a 49-year-old man from Berwick.
Both will face charges on summons.
The charges relate to displaying prohibited weapons for sale without exemption.
Earlier Arrest Linked to Investigation
Meanwhile, the investigation follows an earlier arrest in the same suburb.
On 21 April, police arrested a 30-year-old man on McRae Street.

He allegedly possessed an imitation firearm.
Officers charged him and later bailed him to appear at court.
Ongoing Patrols Across the Area
Finally, police confirmed patrols will continue across local markets and public areas. Moreover, officers will monitor the sale of imitation firearms closely. As a result, further enforcement action may follow if offences continue.
