Firies Fire Up Stair Climb Fundraiser
The Ferntree Gully CFA is inviting the Knox community to support its Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb campaign.
CFA Ferntree Gully – Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb
Today, brigade members are hosting a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Scoresby. There, visitors can grab a snag, pick up a bargain and support a worthwhile cause. At the same time, every purchase helps the brigade’s fundraising effort.
Supporting an important cause
The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb will take place on 12 September.
During the event, the Ferntree Gully team will climb 28 floors. In doing so, members will raise money supporting people affected by cancer, depression and suicide.
Importantly, every donation supports organisations delivering essential services. As a result, each contribution helps families facing difficult circumstances. Furthermore, community support encourages firefighters preparing for the demanding challenge.
Brigade members answer the challenge
This year, sixteen brigade members have committed to the climb.
The participants are:
- Rohan Laing
- Hamish Bartlett
- Nicholas Cledhill
- Michelle Madden
- Thomas Fowler
- Jac Dive
- Emily Foord
- Lowan Sist
- Josh Koster
- Tim Doig
- Simon Steele
- Seamus Smith
- Andrew Stanley
- Justin Stackpole
- Joshua Cassidy
- Kieron Younger
Already, the team has raised $2,884 towards its 2026 target. However, volunteers hope to increase that total well before September. Moreover, every donation brings the brigade closer to its goal.
Building on last year’s success
Previously, the brigade received tremendous community support.
Overall, the 2025 campaign raised $23,946. Therefore, the 2026 team hopes to build on that outstanding achievement. Even so, organisers say every contribution remains valuable because fundraising continues throughout the campaign.
Businesses can make a difference
Meanwhile, local businesses can also support the campaign while promoting their community involvement.
Businesses that donate receive public recognition on the team’s fundraising page. Consequently, supporters gain valuable exposure while backing an important cause.
For example, Fernwood Fitness Ferntree Gully has donated $250. In return, the business received a public thank-you on the fundraising page. Likewise, other businesses can join the growing list of supporters.

Visit Bunnings Scoresby today
Today, residents are encouraged to visit Bunnings Scoresby and meet local CFA volunteers.
Whether buying lunch or making a donation, every contribution helps the team prepare for September’s climb. Additionally, visitors can learn more about the event and its beneficiaries.
Ultimately, the fundraiser benefits firefighters, their families and the wider community. Above all, every dollar raised supports programs tackling cancer, depression and suicide. Together, the Knox community can help the Ferntree Gully team reach another successful fundraising milestone.
