Welfare Check Leads to Police Response
Emergency services were called to Warringa Road in Frankston, early this morning, just after midnight, this Sunday the 23rd of November. Officers were responding to reports of a man who was behaving erratically. When police arrived, the man allegedly charged at the officers. They restrained him and applied handcuffs. He received immediate medical care for several lacerations.
Man’s Condition Rapidly Declines
Soon after treatment began, the man’s condition deteriorated. Officers removed the handcuffs and continued to provide care. Despite their efforts, his condition worsened further, and the 35-year-old Frankston man died at the scene.
Police Review Underway
The circumstances surrounding the man’s death remains under investigation, however, at this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious. Additionally, the Professional Standards Command and the Homicide Squad were notified, which is standard practice when a person dies in police custody.
