Planning Begins in Wantirna South
Planning is underway to upgrade the High Street Road and Mowbray Drive intersection in Wantirna South. The project aims to improve safety and reduce travel times. Importantly, planners are reviewing how drivers, cyclists and pedestrians use the intersection each day. As a result, several upgrade options are now under investigation.
What Is Being Considered?
Currently, the intersection operates without traffic lights. However, traffic volumes continue to grow across Wantirna South. Authorities are investigating options to add traffic lights to the intersection and improve walking and cycling connections. In addition, planners will assess how any upgrade affects nearby streets and local traffic flow. They will also consider visibility, congestion and pedestrian safety.
Community Feedback Invited
Now, residents have the chance to shape the project. Community feedback will guide the next stage of planning. Specifically, planners want input on safety concerns, traffic movement and local priorities. You can provide feedback by adding a comment to the interactive map. What Happens Next?
After consultation closes, planners will review all submissions. They will then use community feedback to refine the design options. Initial planning is expected to conclude in late 2026.
