Mount Waverley Townhouse Destroyed in Fierce Afternoon Blaze

A double-storey townhouse sustained major damage after a fierce fire erupted in Mount Waverley in the afternoon of Sunday the 10th of May.

Fire Rescue Victoria crews rushed to Illuka Crescent about 3.48pm following multiple Triple Zero calls reporting the blaze.

Crews Find Townhouse Fully Ablaze

Firefighters arrived within seven minutes and discovered the brick townhouse fully engulfed by flames.

Consequently, incident controllers escalated the emergency response as smoke billowed across the neighbourhood.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and searched the home.

Thankfully, firefighters confirmed nobody was inside the burning townhouse.

Firefighters Stop Flames Spreading

Firefighters brought the blaze under control about 4.24pm, roughly 30 minutes after arriving.

Although one townhouse suffered significant damage, crews stopped the fire spreading to the adjoining property.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria also attended the incident.

Cause Remains Under Investigation

Investigators will now examine the scene to determine what started the fire.

Authorities have not yet released any details regarding the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
