Injured Rider Taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital

Emergency Response in Wantirna

Emergency services rushed to the intersection of Wantirna Road and Mountain Highway at around 1pm today. The collision occurred outside Knox Private Hospital and involved a motorcycle rider and another vehicle.

Crews quickly secured the scene and managed traffic flow. Meanwhile, an eyewitness claims the motorcyclist crossed the intersection against a red light. He further states the rider struck a vehicle along Mountain Highway. After that, the rider skidded and came to rest in front of his vehicle.

However, investigators have not yet confirmed the exact circumstances. Police continue to assess the situation. In addition, it is understood Victoria Police has secured dashcam footage of the incident.

Paramedics Treat and Transport Patient

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson confirmed Advanced Life Support paramedics attended and assessed those involved on arrival. They then transported one person, believed to be the motorcycle rider, to The Royal Melbourne Hospital for further treatment.

At this stage, the extent of the riders injuries remains unclear. However, early reports suggest possible lower body injuries, although officials have not confirmed this.

Delays Experienced Around Busy Intersection

Motorists experienced some delays through what some locals refer to as “5 ways” this afternoon. Drivers should consider changing weather conditions and allow extra travel time. Roads are often slippery when subjected to heavy rain after dry spells.
