Knox CIU Probes Two Robberies
Police are investigating two robberies in Wantirna that occurred within 48 hours of each other.
Detectives from the Knox Crime Investigation Unit believe witnesses and CCTV footage could prove crucial.
Furthermore, additional police patrols will begin throughout the area while investigators continue their enquiries.
Teen Seriously Assaulted
The first robbery occurred at JW Manson Reserve on Saturday, 20 June, about 6pm.
Police allege several offenders approached a victim before seriously assaulting him.
The offenders then stole the victim’s e-bike and mobile phone before leaving the reserve.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the violent robbery.
Jogger fights Off Offenders
The second incident happened on Monday, 22 June, about 10.30pm.
Police say offenders riding e-bikes approached a man jogging along the Dandenong Creek Trail.
However, the victim successfully fought off the offenders.
As a result, the group fled without stealing any property.
Detectives are investigating whether the incidents are connected.
Detectives seek CCTV
Police are now asking residents, businesses and motorists to review CCTV and dashcam footage.
In particular, detectives want footage captured near JW Manson Reserve and the Dandenong Creek Trail.
Additionally, investigators are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour to come forward.
Even minor details could assist the investigation.
