Knox Council Checking In on How You Manage Household Waste
Recent local data shows that Knox residents continue to manage their household waste responsibly. Our community diverted 71% of waste away from landfill during the recent reporting periods. This strong result reflects ongoing recycling habits, composting efforts and low contamination levels across the municipality.
Moreover, residents helped turn more than 2,600 tonnes of food and garden waste into usable compost every month. These efforts improve soil health and reduce the environmental pressure placed on Knox transfer stations. They also demonstrate a genuine community commitment to reducing waste and protecting the local environment.
However, Knox Council now wants to understand how residents are managing their waste at home. This information will guide future service planning, affordability frameworks and long-term waste strategies.
Council Wants Your Feedback Through the Have Your Say Portal
Council is inviting all residents to share their experiences with the current waste services. This includes thoughts about collection schedules, bin sizes, service affordability, landfill reduction and ideas for new waste options.
The process of consultation runs from the 10th of November to the 7th of December, giving households plenty of time to contribute. Your views will help shape future decisions and influence how the Knox Council decides on how to manage waste in the future.

A Community That Continues to Lead by Example
