Man Charged After Lysterfield Fatal Collision

MCIU Dectectives conclude investigations

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a deadly crash in Lysterfield. Emergency services were called to Lysterfield Road about 11pm on Thursday, 11 September, after reports of a head-on collision between a Toyota Hilux utility and a Hyundai i30.

The Toll

CPR was performed on the Hyundai’s driver, a 26-year-old Croydon woman. Tragically, despite efforts of emergency services personnel, she died at the scene. A 47-year-old Ferntree Gully man, a passenger in the Hilux, was airlifted to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital.

Malvern Man Charged

The 22-year-old Hilux driver from Malvern sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital under police guard. He has since been charged with dangerous driving causing death and bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 16 September.
