Man Charged After Epping and Dandenong Stabbings
A man has been charged following a dramatic series of alleged violent incidents across Melbourne’s north and south-east on Saturday. The events ended when a vehicle crashed into a Dandenong North home.
Detectives arrested a 27-year-old Epping man this morning. As a result, police brought a major investigation to an end after two alleged stabbings unfolded just hours apart.
Police allege the violence began in Epping about 7.30am on Saturday, 31 May. A 40-year-old man allegedly suffered stab wounds at a property on Bradman Terrace.
Then, just under three hours later, emergency services rushed to Exner Street in Dandenong North after reports a silver Honda CRV had allegedly crashed deliberately into a house.
Investigators allege the driver exited the vehicle before stabbing a 34-year-old woman inside the property. Furthermore, police confirmed both parties knew each other.
Paramedics treated both victims at the scene before crews transported them to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the Dandenong North incident triggered a significant emergency response. Consequently, the case quickly became one of the region’s most talked-about crime scenes. Residents also expressed shock after violence erupted in their usually quiet street.
Following an intensive investigation, detectives arrested the alleged offender in Epping this morning.
Police have since charged the 27-year-old with several serious offences. Charges include aggravated burglary, two counts of intentionally causing serious injury, and reckless conduct endangering serious injury.
He was scheduled to face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday the 2nd of June, for a remand application.
