Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 45-year-old Ferntree Gully man with murder after a 30-year-old local woman was found dead inside a home on Ferntree Gully Road.
Emergency services were called to the property just before 10am on Friday, 21 August, after reports of an injured woman inside the residence. Despite attempts to revive her, the woman was declared dead at the scene.
A 45-year-old man was arrested nearby a short time later and taken into police custody. He has since been formally charged with one count of murder.

The accused faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday evening via audio-visual link, where he was remanded in custody. He is next due to appear in court on 23 February 2027.
Police say it is alleged the man and woman were known to each other.
