Man gunned down in Box Hill shooting
Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Box Hill early Thursday morning. Emergency services responded to Whitehorse Road about 1:50am after reports of an altercation. Officers arrived and found a man with critical injuries. The 32-year-old man died at the scene. Authorities are yet to formally release his identity.
Update: Three people arrested
Homicide Squad detectives have now arrested three people following the shooting. Police located and arrested the trio late Thursday evening. Officers made arrests across Talbot, Maryborough, and Bonnie Brook. Two 47-year-old men from Bonnie Brook are now in custody. A 27-year-old woman from Maryborough has also been arrested. All three will be interviewed in relation to the incident.
Shooting confirmed as targeted
Police have confirmed the incident involved a shooting inside a residence. They also confirmed the attack was targeted. Investigators continue to examine evidence and speak with witnesses. However, they have not released further details at this stage.
Fire alarm triggered evacuation
Earlier, a fire alarm forced dozens of residents to evacuate the building. Fire Rescue Victoria responded after the alarm activated about 1:32am. Fire crews attended while residents exited the complex. However, authorities have not confirmed any link to the shooting.
