Driver Dies following Wantirna South Crash
A driver has died following a crash into an aged care facility in Wantirna South last month.
The crash occurred at Adare Care on High Street Road about 4pm on Wednesday the 29th of July.
Police believe the car left the road before striking a building at the facility.
The male driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Police initially said they believed the driver suffered a medical episode before the crash.
Police have now confirmed the man has unfortunately passed away.
Paramedics Treated Driver at the Scene
Emergency services responded to the facility shortly after the crash.
Once on scene, Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance and Advanced Life Support paramedics treated the driver.
Paramedics worked on the patient for just under half an hour.
Soon after, an ambulance transported the man by road to the Victorian Heart Hospital.
No other injuries were reported following the crash.
Police Prepare Report for the Coroner
Initially, the circumstances surrounding the incident remained under police investigation.
Police however, had since confirmed the crash was as a result of a medical episode. They will now prepare a report for the coroner.
