Stolen Volkswagen Crashes Through Fence
Emergency services rushed to the intersection of Kellett’s Road and Winnipeg Street in Rowville shortly before 5:30pm Sunday the 2nd of November.
The driver of a stolen Volkswagen station wagon lost control, driving through a traffic island, down a footpath before smashing through the back fence of the corner property.
The vehicle was not displaying any registration plates.
Locals Confront Driver After Attempted Escape
The driver subsequently fled the scene, running up nearby Erie Avenue. It is understood he was then confronted by locals.
Three Victoria Police units responded, as did one Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) unit.
Man in Custody
After a search of the scene and nearby areas, Police located the driver.
A 39-year-old man was taken into custody and is assisting police with their enquiries.
