Police Investigation
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a serious accident that unfolded this afternoon outside the Civic Square shopping precinct in Croydon. The accident occurred opposite the Civic Square shopping entrance, directly outside the Bowling Club.
A metallic green Mazda 2, travelling northbound as it left the precinct, struck the elderly woman aged in her 70’s while crossing the roadway. It is unclear as to whether the woman was coming from or going to the Bowling Club.
Patient Treatment
Paramedics rushed to the scene just before 3pm. Advanced Life Support and Mobile Intensive Care crews treated the woman for upper body injuries. She was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
