Victoria Police Announces Counter Hour Changes
Victoria Police has introduced temporary reception counter hour changes at Boronia and Rowville stations. From now on, counters operate Monday to Friday, 9:15am to 4:45pm. Officials say the update improves frontline policing across local communities. As a result, officers spend more time preventing and responding to crime.
Shift Toward Community Presence
Police confirmed the adjustment reduces time spent on desk duties. Consequently, members remain more visible and available across neighbourhoods. Importantly, patrol coverage continues without interruption. Both Boronia and Rowville still receive 24/7 operational policing responses. Meanwhile, Knox Police Station remains open around the clock. It sits about five kilometres away for in-person assistance outside counter hours.
Administrative Visits Drive Timing
The revised schedule reflects typical attendance patterns at reception counters. Most visitors attend during weekday business hours. These visits often involve administrative matters or general assistance. For example, people may sign statutory declarations or request documentation. Therefore, the change aligns staffing with peak demand periods.
Emergency and Assistance Contacts
Police stress emergency services remain unchanged. Always call 000 in urgent situations. For non-urgent assistance, call 131 444. This line operates continuously across Victoria.
