New Police Station Hours in Rowville & Boronia
Until further notice, Rowville and Boronia Police Stations will be open 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. They will close on weekends. Outside these times, stations will not have an open reception counter for walk-ins. These changes are part of a broader move that has seen dozens of police reception counters operate for shorter hours across Victoria. This is due to staffing pressures.
Why Are Hours Changing?
Police say the reduced public hours let them redeploy officers into frontline patrols. This should increase visibility and improve response times. Victoria Police confirms front-line response and patrols remain active 24/7, despite reception counters being closed. However, some locals and commentators have raised concerns about limited access to in-person police help, especially during after-hours emergencies. Critics note that up to 43 stations statewide operate on reduced hours.

Police emphasise that emergency services are always available, regardless of station reception hours:

Victoria Police also handles non-urgent reports online and via the Police Assistance Line. When reception counters at local stations are closed, the closest 24-hour reception counter is at Knox Police Station on Burwood Highway, Wantirna South.
