SkyHigh Mount Dandenong has reopened its gates to the public on 21 August, operating under a temporary interim arrangement following its sudden closure in July.
Interim Licence Keeps Doors Open During Sale Process
The reopening comes after liquidation firm SMB Advisory confirmed the popular lookout venue would trade under an interim licence while a buyer is sought for the business. According to SMB Advisory liquidator Adrian Roca, the move helps preserve the venue’s operations, goodwill and overall value while a formal sale campaign gets underway.
Several prospective buyers have already registered interest in acquiring the business, according to the liquidator.
Sudden Closure Left Community Groups Scrambling
SkyHigh Mount Dandenong closed abruptly on 26 July after entering liquidation, forcing local schools and community groups to postpone or relocate bookings. A number of staff were also reportedly stood down at the time.
The venue, which sits on Crown land managed by Parks Victoria, has operated the lease since 2004. Earlier this year, in April, SkyHigh announced a renewed lease with Parks Victoria and flagged plans for renovations and site improvements — making the sudden collapse all the more unexpected for the local community.
What This Means for SkyHigh Bookings
The liquidator is now calling for non-binding expressions of interest as part of a two-stage sale process. Interested buyers are being asked to contact the liquidator’s office directly to take part.
Once a confidentiality agreement is signed, an information memorandum and further sale documents will be released to interested parties.
Customers with existing bookings up to 31 October 2026 are urged to contact SkyHigh Mount Dandenong directly to confirm whether their booking can still be honoured under the interim operator. Where a booking can’t be serviced, customers who have already paid deposits will be treated as unsecured creditors of SkyHigh Mt Dandenong Pty Ltd (In Liquidation).
Looking Ahead
SMB Advisory says the sale campaign will aim to maximise returns for creditors while, where possible, protecting the ongoing operations and reputation of the Mount Dandenong landmark. Importantly, the current interim trading arrangement does not guarantee or influence the eventual outcome of the sale.
