A person has died following a house fire that engulfed a home on Avondale Road in Springvale early on 5 July.
Emergency services were called to the scene just before 6:47am after reports of a fire in a small weatherboard house. When Fire Rescue Victoria crews arrived, the home was already fully alight.
Despite firefighters’ efforts, the blaze had already taken hold, and the property could not be saved. It took more than an hour for crews to bring the fire under control.
Tragically, one person was found deceased inside the home. Formal identification is yet to take place.
Police are now investigating the circumstances of the incident, and arson chemists are working to determine the cause of the fire.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the fire is being treated as suspicious.
