A 16-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after he was allegedly stabbed inside the Coles supermarket at Westfield Knox in Wantirna South.
The incident occurred around 5.30pm on 8 July and has shocked shoppers at the start of the school holidays.
Victoria Police confirmed they are investigating an affray at the shopping centre along Burwood Highway.
“Investigators have been told an altercation took place between a group of males around 5.30pm,” a police spokesperson said.
“One teenage male sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital,” they added.
Ambulance Victoria has confirmed that paramedics responded to the scene and transported the injured teen to The Alfred Hospital.
The remaining individuals involved fled before police arrived. The exact circumstances of the altercation are still under investigation.
