Three drivers have faced serious penalties after being caught speeding on major roads in Lysterfield and Menzies Creek on August 1.
A 19-year-old probationary driver was clocked at 112km/h in an 80km/h zone on Wellington Road, Lysterfield. He returned a positive preliminary breath test for alcohol and later recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.058. The young driver was issued fines totalling $1,322, and his licence has been cancelled for six months.
In a separate incident, a 44-year-old man was caught speeding at 105km/h in the same speed zone along Wellington Road, Menzies Creek. Police discovered his licence had been cancelled in court just two days earlier. His vehicle was immediately impounded for 30 days, and he is expected to reappear in court to explain why he was behind the wheel while banned.
Another driver, aged 29, was caught speeding at 100km/h in a 70km/h zone on Lysterfield Road. He was fined $560 and will have his licence suspended for three months.
Police continue to urge motorists to slow down, warning that speeding is never worth the risk.
