Teen E-Bike Rider Driving Dangerously
A 14-year-old e-bike rider has been injured following a crash in Croydon after police allegedly observed dangerous riding behaviour.
Police said the teenager was seen riding erratically at about 11am. Contrary to the Police report siting Huey Rd, the rider was most likely observed on Hewish Road, less than 650m from the crash.
According to investigators, officers observed the rider perform a mono before continuing onto Mount Dandenong Road.
Police then followed the rider from a distance. At that stage, officers believe the teenager was unaware they were behind him.
Rider Allegedly Accelerated Along Dorset Road
Police allege the rider accelerated at a high speed along Dorset Road shortly afterwards.
Investigators say the teenager then travelled onto the wrong side of the road, where a collision occurred.
Emergency services attended the scene and treated the rider.
Teen Taken to Hospital
Paramedics transported the 14-year-old to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver of a Hyundai i30 was not injured during the collision.
Police said the motorist stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
In addition, officers are seeking any relevant dashcam footage that may assist the investigation.
