A teenager required surgery after a machete attack during a violent armed robbery at a Wantirna reserve.
The 17-year-old suffered at least three wounds during the attack at JW Manson Reserve on Saturday the 20th of June.
Knox Crime Investigation Unit detectives continue to search for those responsible.
Meanwhile, police have released CCTV footage and images of two males who may assist their investigation.
Police allege two unknown males approached the teenager at the reserve about 6.15pm.
The pair allegedly attacked him without warning before pushing him from his Surron Ultra Bee HP e-bike.
As the teenager tried to escape, one attacker allegedly struck him from behind with a machete.
He suffered at least three wounds, including a deep injury to his shoulder.
Despite his injuries, the teenager managed to reach nearby Selkirk Avenue.
There, a passing member of the public called Triple Zero.
Paramedics transported the teenager to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
He underwent surgery and remained in hospital for four days before his discharge.
Following the attack, the offenders allegedly fled with the teenager’s Surron Ultra Bee HP e-bike.
Police estimate the e-bike’s value at about $10,000.
In addition, the offenders allegedly stole the victim’s mobile phone.
Police established a crime scene while investigators began examining the surrounding area.
The State Emergency Service also assisted officers with a line search for evidence.
Detectives have conducted an extensive investigation during the weeks following the robbery.
However, investigators have now turned to the public for help identifying those involved.
Police released CCTV footage and still images of two males who may assist detectives.
Investigators hope someone recognises the pair or can provide information about their movements.
Following the incident, Victoria Police also increased proactive patrols throughout Wantirna.
Local officers and the Neighbourhood Policing Unit maintained a highly visible presence across the area.
Police said the additional patrols aimed to provide reassurance to the community.
Detective Acting Inspector Troy Andrews described the attack as an “unprovoked and senseless” act.
Investigators remain committed to identifying those responsible for the robbery.
