Police respond to early morning burglary
Police attended an aggravated burglary in Ashwood during the early hours of Monday morning. Officers responded to reports of three offenders entering a home on Ashwood Drive about 1.55am.
Stolen vehicle tracked by Air Wing
Soon after, the group allegedly stole an Audi A1 from the property. Police quickly located the vehicle, while the Air Wing monitored it from above.
High-speed pursuit along Monash Freeway
The vehicle travelled along the Monash Freeway at speeds reaching about 190km/h. However, officers maintained aerial tracking to manage risks and coordinate a response. The car then exited at Heatherton Road, where police deployed stop sticks.
Vehicle dumped as suspects flee
Despite the intervention, the vehicle continued onto Princes Highway for a short distance. Soon after, the occupants abandoned the car and fled on foot. Police responded quickly and established a perimeter in the surrounding streets.
Three teens arrested in nearby street
Officers arrested a 16-year-old boy and two 17-year-old boys on Strawbent Rise. All three are from the Cardinia area. During the arrest, a police dog bit the 16-year-old boy. Paramedics transported him to hospital for treatment.
Investigation continues
Detectives will interview the three teens later today. Meanwhile, investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
