Three teenagers have been charged after a stabbing incident and affray at a Wantirna South shopping centre on 8 July.
The incident allegedly occurred around 5:30pm at a shopping centre on Burwood Highway, where a group of teen boys became involved in an altercation. One boy was seriously injured with wounds consistent with a stabbing and was taken to hospital. The others involved reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.
Following an investigation led by Eastern Region Crime Squad detectives, with support from Knox and Yarra Ranges Crime Investigation Units, three teenagers were arrested yesterday.
A 17-year-old from the Yarra Ranges has been charged with intentionally causing injury, theft of a motor vehicle, affray, and assault.
Two others — a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old from the Bass Coast area — face over 10 charges, including robbery, affray, assault, theft of a motor vehicle, attempted aggravated burglary, and intentionally causing injury.
All three teens have been remanded in custody and are expected to appear before a children’s court today.
