Highway Horror Leaves Two Dead
Two men died after a devastating crash in Dandenong during the early hours of this morning.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are now investigating the fatal collision.
Police believe a vehicle travelled along Princes Highway before losing control at about 1.20am this Wednesday the 20th of May.
The car, believed to be a Honda Accord, then crashed into a tree near the intersection of Robinson and Potter streets.
Both occupants died at the scene despite emergency services arriving within minutes.
Investigators believe the victims were a 38-year-old man and a 19-year-old man from the Dandenong area. Formal identification of both men is still outstanding.
Princes Highway Closed After Fatal Collision
The deadly crash forced the closure of Princes Highway in both directions for most of the morning.
Police established a crime scene while investigators examined the wreckage and surrounding roadway.
Motorists faced significant delays throughout the area.
Authorities have not yet confirmed what caused the driver of the vehicle to lose control; however speed is emerging as the defining factor.
Detectives Appeal for Witnesses
Investigators are urging witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage to come forward.
