Two Men Arrested After Vermont South Stabbing Incident
Two men have been arrested and charged following a violent stabbing in Vermont South last month.
Detectives from the Transit Crime Investigation Unit executed multiple search warrants, uncovering a cache of weapons and illicit substances.
Attack at Vermont South Bus Stop
According to police, the incident occurred on 15 September around 4pm at a bus stop on Springvale Road. Investigators allege one man approached a 37-year-old man waiting at the stop. After a brief exchange, the victim was stabbed in the upper body.
Fortunately, he was quickly transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the offenders fled on foot. Authorities believe the men and the victim were not known to each other, highlighting the random nature of the attack.
Nunawading Search Leads to Major Seizures
In a significant breakthrough, detectives executed search warrants at a Nunawading property today. Inside, officers discovered drugs of dependence, suspected stolen goods, and several weapons, including a machete, knives, and firearms.
As a result, two suspects were arrested on site and later interviewed in connection with the September stabbing. A third man at the property was also detained on separate weapons charges.
Charges and Court Appearances
A 30-year-old man of no fixed address now faces a charge of intentionally causing injury. He was scheduled to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this evening.
Meanwhile, a 23-year-old Wendouree man was remanded to the Melbourne County Court for 22 October due to outstanding warrants.
A 28-year-old Nunawading resident faces charges as a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. He has been bailed to appear before the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 28 November.
