Ute leaves road and crashes into apartment
Emergency services rushed to Station Street in Bayswater shortly after four o’clock this afternoon after reports of a serious single-vehicle crash. According to witnesses, a ute left the road, struck a power pole, and continued through a vacant block before smashing through a rear fence and into an apartment building.
Emergency Services free driver from wreckage
Fire crews and Paramedics worked quickly to free the female driver trapped inside the vehicle. She was conscious and breathing of her own accord. The woman was transported to The Alfred Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Eyewitnesses describe chaotic scene
An eyewitness told police the ute had been travelling at speed through nearby Macauley Place moments before the crash. Dozens of onlookers gathered as emergency crews secured the scene and assessed the building’s structural damage.
