Firefighters Respond
Emergency services were called to a van fire on the Eastlink outbound High Street off-ramp at 9:30am this morning, Wednesday 1st October.
Two Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) units arrived promptly and extinguished the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Traffic delays
The incident caused traffic delays in this section of Eastlink. Drivers slowing to observe the 40km/h rule with regards to passing Emergency Services. Smoke and curiosity also contributed to the reduction in speed as morning commuters tried to take in the spectacle. Fire crews ensured the scene was made safe. Motorists were advised to allow extra time when travelling outbound.
Cause of the Blaze
The cause of the blaze is unknown. Investigations are ongoing.
