Vermont South Firearm Incident Under Investigation
Police are investigating a firearm incident after an altercation in Vermont South late Friday night.
Investigators believe a dispute involving a group of males unfolded on Burwood Highway about 11.55pm on 26 June.
During the altercation, a firearm was allegedly discharged. However, police have confirmed nobody was struck by the shot.
Three Men Allegedly Assaulted
Police allege three victims were physically assaulted during the incident.
Afterwards, the group left the scene in a vehicle before seeking assistance.
A 19-year-old man later attended hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say those injuries resulted from the alleged assault, not the firearm discharge.
Parties Believed To Know Each Other
Investigators believe the people involved were known to each other.
Meanwhile, detectives have established a crime scene as they continue examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police are working to determine exactly what occurred before, during and after the alleged altercation.
Police Appeal For Witnesses
Detectives are now urging anyone with information to come forward.
Additionally, investigators want to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or captured dashcam or CCTV footage from the area around Burwood Highway about 11.55pm.
