A woman has died and two others have been seriously injured after a car mounted the footpath in Wantirna South this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Coleman Road at about 12.20pm following reports that three pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle.
It is believed a Toyota Yaris lost control, hit the trio, then crashed through a fence and came to rest against a park bench.
A 59-year-old Wantirna South woman died at the scene.
A 60-year-old man, also from Wantirna South, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 2-year-old boy was also seriously injured and taken to hospital.
The 91-year-old female driver of the Yaris was taken to hospital with minor injuries. She has not yet been interviewed.
Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
