A serious workplace accident in Melbourne’s east has left a man fighting for his life. Ambulance Victoria was called to the Stairway Church on Rooks Road in Vermont just after 10:30am this morning.
Worker Battles Critical Injuries
Mobile Intensive Care and Advanced Life Support paramedics quickly arrived and assessed a man in his fifties. The man suffered severe upper body injuries while working on the church roof. He was transported in a critical condition to the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Paramedics worked efficiently to stabilise the man, ensuring he received the highest level of care available.

By the early afternoon, WorkSafe Victoria inspectors had arrived on scene to begin investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Their presence ensured the area was secured and investigations were promptly underway.
FRV Crews Respond to Clean Up
Shortly after 3:30pm, two FRV units also attended, as well as a ladder platform and high-angle rescue pod.
These specialist appliances ensured the FRV could safely clean up and make the site safe.
