Police Execute Warrants Across Southeast
Detectives charged three more teenagers over an alleged stabbing in Oakleigh last month. Officers from the Eastern Region Crime Squad executed three search warrants across Melbourne’s southeast.
They arrested three males during those operations yesterday. The group includes a 14-year-old and 15-year-old from Dandenong. It also includes an 18-year-old from Noble Park.
Trio Faces Multiple Serious Offences
Police laid several serious charges against the trio.
Charges included intentionally causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence.
They also face charges of intentionally causing serious injury and recklessly causing serious injury.
In addition, police charged them with violent disorder and affray.
Officers further added assault with a weapon and common law assault charges.
Courts Process Accused Teens
A children’s court received the 14-year-old yesterday afternoon.
Magistrates remanded him in custody to appear at a later date.
The Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard the 18-year-old’s matter.
The court remanded him in custody and listed his case for Friday the 1st of May.
The 15-year-old received bail.
He will appear before a children’s court at a later date.
Eaton Mall Attack Sparks Response
The incident unfolded outside a business on Eaton Mall about 7.45pm on 17 April. At that time, about 12 people sat in the area.
Police allege a larger group approached them. Some offenders wore balaclavas and carried machetes.
During the confrontation, offenders stabbed an 18-year-old Malvern East man. Paramedics took him to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Offenders also assaulted a 16-year-old boy however he did not suffer physical injuries. Investigators believe the parties know each other.
Earlier Arrests Linked to Same Incident
Detectives arrested three other teenagers on the 23rd of April.
They came from Stonnington, Greater Dandenong, and Knox.
Police charged them with similar offences. A children’s court heard their matters and remanded them in custody.
Investigation Continues with More Arrests Expected
Police confirmed the investigation continues. They expect further arrests as inquiries progress. Officers will also maintain proactive patrols in Oakleigh.
