Thief Flees After Only a Few Metres
An attempted car theft in Knoxfield today ended almost as fast as it began. A would-be thief managed to move a Subaru WRX only about five or six metres before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
The incident happened outside the Chemist Warehouse on Burwood Highway.
The car was strangely missing its rear-vision mirror. A thorough search of the vehicle and surrounding area failed to locate it. The offender however left the scene that quickly he wouldn’t have had time to look back. You could say he was gone in 60 seconds.
Crime Scene Services Attend
Crime Scene Services attended the scene this afternoon. They collected evidence and documented the scene before the vehicle was secured. Police note that Subaru WRX models remain common targets for car thieves across Melbourne’s east.
