Library Expansion Nearing Completion

Construction of the new Bayswater Library inside Mountain High Shopping Centre is well underway, with doors expected to open by August or September.

The upgraded facility will be located on Level 1, just a few doors down from the current site, and will offer a much larger, brighter and more modern open-plan layout. It will provide flexible spaces for studying, working, meeting and hosting community events or workshops.

Key improvements include a 55% increase in floorspace, two bookable meeting rooms, and two community rooms that can be joined into a single larger area for gatherings of up to 40 people. A designated games area, baby change facility, and accessible toilet will also be included.

Infrastructure like signage, AV systems, shelving, and a book return chute are all part of the fit-out, supported by the Victorian Government through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

The current Bayswater Library will remain open while construction continues. Once the new site is ready, the existing library will close for one week to allow for the relocation of books and equipment. During that period, residents can still access nearby libraries across Knox or within the Your Library network.

The upgraded Bayswater Library aims to offer a fresh, modern experience for local readers, students and community groups alike.
