Rider Identified Following North Road Collision
Police have released further details following the fatal motorcycle crash in Oakleigh. Emergency services responded about 11.30am to reports of a collision at the intersection of North Rd and Golf Links Avenue. CPR was performed on the motorcyclist. Sadly, the rider, a 26-year-old man from Bentleigh, died at the scene.
Driver Interviewed, Passenger Seriously Injured
Meanwhile, the driver of the MG Sedan, a 77-year-old Beaumaris man, remained at the scene and assisted police. He was interviewed by investigators and later released pending further enquiries. Victoria Police updated their original media release, revealing that there was in fact a passenger in the vehicle. The passenger, a 67-year-old Beaumaris woman, was transported to hospital with serious injuries. Police have not laid any charges at this stage.
Investigation Continues as Roads Remain Affected
Investigators are still working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision. Major roads in the area remain impacted, with sections of North Road and Golf Links Avenue previously closed in both directions. Detours were put in place while emergency crews manage the scene. Furthermore, investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
