Stolen Lamborghini Crashed by Teen
Police arrested a teenager after a stolen Lamborghini crashed in Glen Waverley this afternoon, Thursday the 12th of March. Earlier, the luxury SUV travelled through several Melbourne suburbs while police tracked its movements.
Lamborghini allegedly stolen during overnight break-in
Police say a group entered a property on The Esplanade in Maribyrnong about 1.15am. They allegedly stole a black 2020 Lamborghini Urus wagon before leaving the scene. Soon after, officers received reports of the vehicle driving erratically through nearby suburbs. However, police lost sight of the Lamborghini near Keilor Park.
Erratic driving reported across multiple suburbs
Throughout the day, witnesses reported dangerous driving across several suburbs. The Lamborghini allegedly travelled along highways and even over footpaths. Consequently, other drivers and pedestrians faced serious risk. Later, police spotted the vehicle again in Glen Waverley. Officers say the SUV ran a red light and continued at excessive speed.
Police Air Wing tracks vehicle before crash
Meanwhile, the Police Air Wing tracked the Lamborghini as it moved between suburbs. Eventually, the vehicle returned to Glen Waverley and drove through a shopping centre car park. Shortly after, the driver exited the car park and travelled behind the shopping centre. However, the vehicle then lost control. Police say the Lamborghini crashed into a fence on Myers Avenue about 4.35pm. Fortunately, no injuries occurred.
Teen arrested as police search for three others
Police arrested the driver, a 16-year-old boy from the Croydon area, at the scene. Officers took him into custody for questioning. Meanwhile, investigators believe three other offenders remain outstanding.
