Three Teens Charged After Armed Robberies at Boronia Bus Stop
Police have charged three teenagers after two alleged armed robberies at a Boronia bus stop last week.
Officers from the Croydon Divisional Response Unit arrested the trio following an extensive investigation into the incidents.
Two Teenagers Allegedly Targeted
Investigators allege two 15-year-old boys waited at a bus stop near Chandler Road about 5pm.
Police claim three males approached the pair before one allegedly produced a machete.
The male allegedly threatened one teenager and demanded his belongings, however the boy refused to comply.
Police allege the group then grabbed him, stole his backpack and assaulted him.
E-Scooter Also Allegedly Stolen
Investigators allege the same group then confronted the second 15-year-old boy.
Police claim they demanded he hand over his e-scooter.
Furthermore, one male allegedly assaulted the teenager before stealing his bag and scooter.
The three males then fled the area.
Police allege one offender rode away on the stolen e-scooter.
Despite immediate searches, officers could not locate the group.
Thankfully, neither victim required medical treatment.
Three Teenagers Charged
Following further enquiries, police arrested three teenage boys yesterday in Heathmont and Lilydale.
A 16-year-old from the La Trobe area, a 17-year-old from the Maroondah area and another 16-year-old from the Ballarat area faced interviews.
Police subsequently charged all three with multiple armed robbery and assault offences.
The trio remain on remand.
They will appear before a Children’s Court at a later date.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.
