A fatal collision in Ferntree Gully is now under investigation by detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit.
Emergency services were called to Burwood Highway, near Glenfern Road, around 5:50pm on 9 July, following reports that a Toyota Landcruiser and a Volvo sedan had collided.
The driver and sole occupant of the Volvo was taken to hospital but later died. They have not yet been formally identified.
The Toyota’s driver, who was also the only person in the vehicle, was taken to hospital for observation.
The cause of the collision remains unclear as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
