Police are investigating an unusual recovery in the Yarra Ranges after detectives found a motorbike with a mannequin still seated on it.
On 29 August 2025, Yarra Ranges CIU officers located the bike and mannequin, both of which are believed to be stolen property. The owner has not yet been identified.
While the discovery is raising eyebrows, investigators are keeping the matter strictly business. Detectives joked off the record that this mannequin “wasn’t going anywhere fast,” but they remain focused on returning the motorbike to its rightful owner.
Police are now calling on the public for assistance. Anyone with information is urged to contact Yarra Ranges CIU on 9739 2401 and ask for Detective Butler.
It may look like a staged scene, but investigators are clear: this is no shopfront display. The mannequin and motorbike are part of an active investigation into stolen property.
