Missing Woman Case Escalates Quickly
Local Police conducted initial enquires after a woman went missing on Thursday the 2nd of April. It was determined early that the circumstances surrounding the woman’s absence were suspicious. The 53-year-old from Dandenong failed to contact family as expected. Detectives from the Missing Persons Squad then launched an investigation.
Airport Arrest Halts Planned Departure
The man was preparing to board an international flight, before police successfully intervened and prevented his departure. Authorities arrested the 67-year-old man at Melbourne Airport in the afternoon of Friday the 3rd of April. Investigators allege the man had links to the missing woman.
Body Discovered Near Little River
On Saturday afternoon, detectives made a significant discovery in Little River. They located a woman’s body near Little River Road and the Princes Freeway. Soon after, officers established a crime scene. Specialists from the Major Crime Scene Unit mobilised to preserve and process the evidence.
Identification Process Underway
The body has not yet been formally identified. However, police firmly believe it is the body of the missing Dandenong woman. A formal identification will follow a forensic examination.
Accused Charged and Remanded
Police have charged the Patterson Lakes man with one count of murder. He has been remanded in custody. It is expected he will appear before the bail and remand court in Melbourne on Sunday the 5th of April.
