Three Teens Charged After Oakleigh Stabbing
Three teenagers now face charges following an alleged stabbing in Oakleigh last week.
Moreover, detectives acted quickly and moved across multiple suburbs.
Police Execute Coordinated Search Warrants
Detectives from the Eastern Region Crime Squad executed three warrants today, Thursday the 23rd of April.
They arrested three boys across Melbourne’s east and southeast.
The trio includes two 17-year-olds and one 14-year-old.
The offenders come from the Stonnington, Greater Dandenong, and Knox areas.
Charges Include Serious Violent Offences
Police charged the teenagers with several serious offences.
These include intentionally causing serious injury in violent circumstances.
Additionally, charges include reckless injury, affray, and assault with a weapon.
Furthermore, investigators also allege violent disorder and common law assault.
Two boys also face charges for offending while on bail.
Those charges relate to a separate Oakleigh incident on the 8th of April.
Eaton Mall Confrontation Turns Violent
The incident unfolded outside a business on Eaton Mall about 7.45pm on the 17th of April.
At that time, around 12 people sat together nearby.
However, police allege a larger group approached wearing balaclavas.
Some individuals reportedly carried machetes.
An 18-year-old Malvern East man sustained stab wounds.
Paramedics took him to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old male was also assaulted during the incident.
Fortunately, he did not sustain physical injuries.
Police Say Parties Knew Each Other
Investigators believe the groups knew each other before the incident.
Therefore, police do not consider the attack random.
The three teenagers appeared before a children’s court this afternoon.
Police have applied to remand the trio in custody.
